Broken or Old Cell Phones
Attention Lobos! Do you have broken or old cell phone sitting around your house and you are not sure what to do with them? Bring them into Ms. Masuda or Mr. Takahashi's rooms for disposal. We are collecting cell phones to help organizations that visit us for free and speak to our health classes here at Los Amigos. So please bring in those unused cell phones into room M-1 or IA-2. Thank you for your help!

Seniors
Seniors plan to order your Cap, Gown, Tassel, Graduation Announcements and Senior Remembrance items in the Commons from 7:15 to 12:45. Ordering packets will be distributed at the Senior Assembly Monday the 23. A sample of your schools Custom Graduation Announcement is on display now in the Office. Senior Ring orders will also be taken and delivered in 6 weeks.
Hey Seniors! The Garden Grove Education Association is willing to give you an opportunity to make $2000. Sound interesting? Just swing by the library and pick up an application with Ms. Ramos! Students will be selected based on Financial need, academic achievement, and service to the community and our campus. Don't miss out! The deadline is March 2.
Most Improved Student
On Thursday, January 5th, during fourth period the principal met with the candidates of December's "Most Improved Student." They were congratulated on their nomination and given their certificates. Congratulations to:

After careful review of the candidate's progress, Octavio Salgado was selected as December's "Most Improved Student" and will attend the Rotary Breakfast on Tuesday, January 10th. Congratulations, Octavio!

My Favorite Teacher Essay Contest
Barnes and Noble Bookstore is sponsoring a "My Favorite Teacher Essay Contest." Students, if you would like to acknowledge your favorite teacher by entering this writing contest, please pick up a form in your grade level office. You can write an essay, poem or letter sharing how a teacher has influenced your life and why you appreciate and admire them. All entries are due back to your grade level office by February 24.
Teens for Jeans
Hey Lobos! Help support our annual Teens for Jeans Drive! Did you know that one out of every three homeless people is under the age of 18? You can help by donating your old jeans to room C-6 or L-17!
Carls Jr.
Attention all students, come support the class of 2014 Wednesday and Thursday after school and buy Carls Jr. in the quad. Spicy chicken sandwiches and big burgers will be sold for $2 each and cokes for $1. So come and enjoy Carls Jr. while supporting the class of 2014.
Senior Excellence Award
Seniors, Mrs. Draeger is now accepting applications for the January Senior Excellent Award. You may pick up an application from Mrs. Draeger in the college center or download a copy on the Los Amigos web site. Applications must be submitted by 3:00pm on Friday January 27 to be considered for this month.
Food Handlers Card
Are you looking for a job in the Food service Industry? Starting January 1, 2012 the State requires ALL employees who come in contact with food or who are looking to get a job in food service to have a "FOOD HANDLERS CARD" -- these cards are $15 and the funds come out of your OWN pocket.. BUT... Ms. Driggers has access to these cards FREE of CHARGE -- stop by FA-1 for details on how you can get your card and have an advantage over other potential job applicants. Quantities are limited so stop by today.
Jami Goldman-Marsielle's Presentation
Thank you to everyone who attended Jami Goldman-Marsielle's Presentation in the Little Theatre. Everyone was well-behaved, respectful, and represented Los Amigos in a positive way. If you are interested in purchasing an autographed copy of Jami's book at a discounted rate, please see Ms. Ryan in L-19.
Clubs
Culinary Arts: There will be a meeting February 1 during lunch for our Club photo --- please wear your club t-shirts (only $10 if you do not have one see Miss Driggers to purchase one)
NHS: Congratulations to the Los Amigos National Honor Society for an extremely successful math and science night at Monroe. It was a wonderful evening for our students to celebrate and engage with the Monroe students. Special thanks got to Chena Tran for her meticulous organizational skills and professional behavior. Thank you all who put forth their talent and effort to make this a special evening for all.
ASU: A huge thank you to Christine Nguyen and the ASU board for their fine work Friday night at Asian Cultural night. The entertainers wowed the crowed with dancing, song, and traditional dresses. A special thank you to Chris Tran and Andi Mai for their generosity and lyrical musicianship. Congratulations to the Los Amigos ASU.
Pink Ribbon Club:Thanks to the volunteers and donors, we had a very successful blood drive, October 18. We had almost 100 students, staff, and parents donate blood. Your contribution will save someone's life and make this world a better place. Our next blood drive is in March 2012.
Sports
Hey Lobos are you interested in playing football next year? If you are come to an informational meeting today after school at 3:00pm in Mr. Agnew's room D-1 (portables by the baseball field.) You will be given all the information needed to play football next year.
BUMP, SET, SPIKE! We'd like to thank all boys who tried out for the volleyball team. The list of boys that made the team will be posted up outside the gym doors after school! Congratulations to those who made it, now lets have an amazing season lobos!
Congratulations to our Girls Varsity soccer team for their amazing win over Bolsa by a score of 6-0. Goals were scored by Ana Abundis, Jessica Figueroa, Lily Torres, Monserrat Reyes and Paulina Nieto. Great job Lady Lobos!
Congratulations to the varsity boy's basketball team for their 52-47 victory over Bolsa Grande last night. The team was led by Jorge Bedolla with 15 points, David Ortiz with 2 points, 11 rebounds, 4 blocks, and Raymond Rembert with 15 points and 4 rebounds. In addition, Jama Mohamed got the team off to a great start with 4 points, 2 rebounds and 1 block in his final home game. Coach Isaacs' would like to thank all of the seniors for their dedication, hard work and effort over the past several seasons. You will be missed!The team is now 4 - 3 in league and 11 - 8 overall. Next up is Santiago. Let's go get some more wins gentlemen.
Library Hours
Students are able to use the library and its resources before school and during lunch. During periods 1-4 students must have hall passes to come to the library. The Library is CLOSED for student hall passes during 5th & 6th periods.
After school library hours: Monday - Thursday 3:00 - 6:00 PM; Friday - CLOSED after school

Tardy System
Attention all students! You will hear a two minute and a one minute warning bell between periods. Please be sure to arrive to class on time. After school detentions will be issued for tardies to class. Detention will be held from 2:45-3:15.
Catering by Culinary Arts
Event Catering will be cancelled tomorrow January 10, rescheduled for Thursday,January 12 from 3 to 5pm.
