Principal's Message

Hello Los Amigos community,

One of the things I love most about education is that each year brings about unique opportunities for growth and new experiences, and this is especially true for me as I assume the position as the new principal of Los Amigos High School!

I have worked as an administrator in the Garden Grove Unified School District for 17 years, most recently as the principal of Garden Grove High School for the last 5 years. Before that I was the principal of Hare High School and prior to that I worked as an assistant principal and Santiago High School and at Bolsa Grande High School. Each experience along the way has given me a chance to work with amazing students/staff and I couldn’t be happier about joining the Los Amigos community.

I made the transition in mid-June and have been trying to soak up as much information as possible about the programs and systems in place here. I am so excited learning about the Early College Academy, a program co-designed with Golden West College where Los Amigos students earn college credits and can gain an Associate in Arts (AA) degree embedded within their four years of high school classes. This is an amazing opportunity which gives our students a competitive advantage as they go on their academic journey. I’ve also eagerly been watching the construction of our new track and field. This is a major upgrade as we will have synthetic professional field turf as well as a synthetic rubber track, and we are on pace to be able to use these facilities in early August.

I’ve already had a chance to meet many students and staff as they are here each day to take part in programs such as the aforementioned Early College Academy, extended learning opportunities, APEX, and sports. It’s apparent the Los Amigos faculty and staff work very hard to create an environment that promotes curiosity, learning, and personal growth. They bring professionalism and compassion to their jobs so that each student can comfortably explore his or her unique talents and abilities.

I can assure you that your student will be presented with a wide variety of opportunities and experiences while at Los Amigos. They will be presented with rigorous and relevant curriculum and have access to take part in a comprehensive athletic program, exceptional visual and performing arts program, a robust activities program, and a variety of engaging college and career pathways in a supportive environment. We hope all of our students find a sport, club, activity, or program that they can enjoy.

Parental involvement is a vital component in increasing student achievement and we invite you to become involved participants in our learning community. There are many opportunities for you to take an active role including Site Council, ELAC, DELAC, Parent Education classes, etc. We look forward to working collaboratively with you with the goal always to make our school even better for our students. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns at any time.

Established in 1968, it’s easy to tell Los Amigos is a school rich in tradition and I look forward to playing a role in building our own traditions in the years to come.
